Flour Factory, Edirne

The date and name on the facade of the four-story factory building indicate that it was built in 1902 by II. O. Karakotchian.

The building used today as Dönertaş Flour Factory is in relatively good condition.

Located in Edirne Province, Central District, next to the Ekmekçioğlu Ahmet Paşa Bridge, on the banks of the Tunca River, the four-story Flour Factory has survived intact to this day. Inside the four-story building, there are factory production tools remaining from the periods when the factory was in operation.

A sign at the entrance door reads II. O. Karakotchıan 1902. Another inscription reading 1902 is located at the top of the building. The entrance of the building is constructed of brick and from the outside it has the appearance of a solid brick structure. However, the load-bearing systems inside, the columns and beams, are made of wood. The stairs are also made of wood, and the windows are made of iron.

It was registered as an Immovable Cultural Heritage Requiring Protection (2nd group) by the Edirne Cultural Heritage Preservation Regional Board Directorate with the decision dated 18.12.2013 and numbered 1389.
