Armenian Tower, Belluno
A priceless climb, in a wild environment and with eternal tempo and elevation changes. Torre Armena is the beautiful peak that flanks its older brother, Agner, to the west. Invisible from Frassené, it reveals a vertical silvery face when viewed from the San Lucano Valley, with a articulated base that plunges as deep as Agner’s celebrated arête. The summit is actually not a single one, but rather composed of several peaks connected by a not-so-easy ridge. From the highest point, the view is unique.
On the 25th of August 1929, Ohannés Gurekian became the first to climb the “Torre Armena” peak of the Agner Mountain group. He explicitly baptised it “Torre Armena” in memory of his “unfortunate and martyred homeland” (Armenia).
